Emergency
HAKKINDA

Situations that develop suddenly and threaten a person's life or the integrity of life are defined as emergency health situations. According to the International Federation of Emergency Medicine, acute diseases or injuries are stated as issues that emergency medicine will intervene in, but the common problem in many countries is the patient density in emergency services. The concept of triage has emerged due to the number of patients applying to Emergency Services exceeding the capacity of the Emergency Services.

What is Triage?
The word triage is derived from the English words "Triage" and the French words "Trier" and means "separation, classification, prioritization". Triage is the process of determining the intervention priorities of people in need of medical intervention. The current practice in Emergency Services all over the world is to triage patients first. Thanks to an effective triage performed at the Emergency Service entrances, critically ill patients can be intervened without delay during busy times. Thanks to the triage process, patients in critical condition first reach the necessary examination and treatment needs as soon as possible, and hospitals also use their resources effectively.

Etik Life Medical Center Emergency Service T.R. According to the relevant Regulations and Communiqués of the Ministry of Health, triage is implemented. All Emergency Service personnel in our hospital have received triage training and this training is repeated periodically.

Emergency Services are the mirrors of hospitals. All patient reception, diagnosis, hospitalization, operation, intensive care, discharge, in short, all diagnosis and treatment processes that take place in hospitals are present in emergency services or are intertwined. In addition, since Emergency Services are one of the units of hospitals that operate non-stop for 24 hours, they should be structured in a way that they can provide all the necessary medical and social services to emergency patients who apply to the hospital without interruption.

Since the reasons for patients coming to the Emergency Service are usually unexpected illnesses, patients are also anxious in addition to their complaints. This anxiety is that a situation they do not know the reason for takes them to an unknown place and to unknown people. Emergency Services should be designed in a way that helps patients feel comfortable and safe. Doctors, nurses, administrative staff and auxiliary health personnel working in Emergency Services should also behave in a way that helps eliminate these possible concerns of patients.
